By the winter people may find it so expensive to go to the grocery store that they' ll take a bus to get there. The problem is there won't be a bus going near where they live. I'm stunned that neither candidate understands the energy crisis. It's not about Iraq or the environment; it's about eating and keeping warm. Ignoring the kind of problem that will exist in our country next winter is the kind of campaigning that will make any voter wonder why he's even wasting the gas to go vote.
I am stunned that our candidates are so aloof that they don't understand the basics that face us in our very near future. Obama continues to assume that nothing can be done about it because it is all market driven. Well the market is being manipulated and something could be done if we had the will to regulate this important commodity. Our regulatory agency (Commodities Futures Trading Commission)has no money or personnel for regulating. How about we have Congress give it some? How about getting some money into mass transportation? We don't have trains but buses could get us around until we have a more comprehensive plan. What about heating the house?
I'm not finding anything in the media about how severe this issue really is for most people. By fall Obama better have a plan because McCain or some third party candidate will.
