Education Ha!

Watching the Masters golf tournament  and the commercials by big oil concerning how we need more education in math and science made me wonder about why big oil doesn't encourage more education in government and history? Maybe a little history about Teddy Roosevelt busting up Standard Oil in the early 1900's would be a good starter. Is it any wonder that when old governments are replaced that the new governments start with a new educational format. Often the old teachers are jailed or killed and then the new thrust in education begins. This happened in the Bush takeover(he didn't kill the teachers but he made them the scapegoats). He pounced on education because his boys saw that it was being pounced on by everyone else including some very powerful Democrats. He seemed to move toward equalizing education in the same way that water runs down hill. He's made education move downward towards the worst examples. And it just keeps on getting bad reviews. I think making math and science the key to learning keeps us ignorant about the misuse, corruption, and deception of  our federal, state, and local government.

It may be time to reteach what we're supposed to be about. That may be the reason that Tom Hanks, David McCullough, and HBO teamed up to present a wonderful illustration of American History and Government called 'John Adams'.  I think that we must reign in the manipulation that is taking place in education. We must save it from the poachers that tend to use it for whatever they want to achieve. We've got to get the courts out of it; we've got to make it sacred.

There is only one way to do this. We must put "education" into our Constitution. It is not there. It is not mentioned. Because it isn't mentioned it is in the realm of being controlled by each individual state. Education is a nightmare of inefficiencies. There are too many buildings, too many administrators, too many boards, and too many buses.   The overall picture is often forgotten because of loyalties to the past. Whether the football team, cheerleaders, or band does well becomes the focus not the individual receiving a broad and thorough  education. The court has broken the system by insisting on costs that can't be understood by anyone except the parent demanding that his child get the special treatment at the cost of everyone else not getting that same special treatment.

We must have a special amendment to our Constitution giving "education" the status that it deserves. It needs to be federal; it needs protection from every politician that wants to kick it around. We need it to be as non political as it can be; we need it to be as comprehensive as possible; and we need it to be universal throughout our country! And if this ever happens I'll know that it has because we will be learning more than one language throughout our country; we'll be learning about evolution; we will be learning that protecting and defending our Constitution is highest form of patriotism.
